Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ordering, delivery, financing, and our Amish-built sheds. Don't see your question? Call us at (540) 869-4050 — we'd rather have a real conversation.

Ordering & Payment

How does the $99 reservation work?

When you reserve a shed online, you put down a refundable $99 deposit through Stripe. That holds your specific shed for 48 hours so no one else can buy it. We'll reach out within one business day to discuss next steps — delivery scheduling, final payment, and any customizations. If you change your mind, the $99 is fully refundable until the shed leaves our lot.

How do I pay for my shed?

We offer three payment options: Pay in full at the time of order, 90 Days Same as Cash (50% down, remaining 50% over 3 monthly payments — no credit check, no interest if paid within 90 days), or rent-to-own (pay over time with monthly payments, no large upfront, no credit check). Call (540) 869-4050 for current rent-to-own rates and terms.

Do you offer financing?

Yes — through our 90 Days Same as Cash program (no credit check, no interest if paid in 90 days) and rent-to-own (no large upfront, no credit check). Both are in-house — we don't go through a third-party lender, so there's no application or hard credit check.

Can I customize a shed I see on the website?

Yes — we can customize most in-stock sheds with options like trim color, paint, doors, windows, ramps, and shelving for an additional cost. For larger changes (different size, different style entirely), see our custom builds.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover for the $99 reservation and full payment. We also accept cash, check, and bank transfer for the balance.

Delivery & Setup

How long after I order will my shed be delivered?

In-stock sheds typically deliver within 7–10 business days after your reservation is confirmed. Custom builds take 4–8 weeks from order to delivery, depending on the season and complexity.

Where do you deliver?

Free delivery within 30 miles of our lot in White Post, VA — that covers Winchester, Front Royal, Berryville, Stephens City, Lovettsville, and most of Frederick, Clarke, and Warren counties. We deliver throughout the broader Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia at affordable per-mile rates beyond 30 miles. See our full service area

Will my shed be assembled when it arrives?

Yes. Every shed we sell is built completely in our partner shops, then delivered fully assembled to your property on a specialized shed-mover trailer. There's no on-site construction. You don't need to lift a finger or hire help.

What do I need to prepare before delivery?

You'll need (1) a clear path from the road to your shed location at least 12 feet wide with 13 feet of overhead clearance, (2) a relatively level spot for placement, and (3) someone home to confirm placement. If your spot has significant slope or soft ground, you may want a shed pad prepared in advance. Full delivery prep details

What if my lot is hard to reach?

We've delivered to mountain properties, narrow city lots, and through tight gates. If your lot is unusual, send us photos when you call and we'll confirm we can deliver before scheduling. We'd rather know in advance than show up and find we can't get through.

Do you move existing sheds?

Yes — we offer professional shed moving and relocation throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Whether you're moving to a new property, repositioning your shed, or buying a used shed that needs delivery, we have the equipment to lift, transport, and re-level your shed at the new spot. Permits & Site Prep

Do I need a permit for a shed?

Permit requirements vary by Virginia and West Virginia county. Most counties allow sheds under 256 square feet without a permit, but rules vary on setbacks, foundations, and buildings near property lines. We recommend checking with your local zoning office before ordering. We're happy to provide any documentation you need for the permit application.

Do I need a foundation or pad?

For most properties, a level grass or gravel spot is fine. For wet or soft ground, or if you want maximum longevity, a gravel pad or concrete pad is recommended. We can help you assess your site or recommend a contractor — just call before delivery.

Can the shed be moved later?

Yes. Our sheds are designed to be portable buildings — they can be relocated by a shed-mover trailer if you ever sell, move, or want to reconfigure your property. We can help with relocation for an additional fee.

Quality & Materials

What does “Amish-built” mean at Shenandoah Sheds?

Our sheds are hand-framed by experienced Amish carpenters in Pennsylvania shops we've worked with for over a decade. They're built indoors, in covered shops, using traditional techniques and premium materials — not slapped together in a field. Every shed gets the same attention to detail whether it's a $7,000 garden shed or a $25,000 custom barn.

What materials do you use?

Siding is Smartboard T1-11 (durable, weather-resistant engineered wood). Roofing is 30-year architectural shingles. Floors are treated wood flooring systems. Framing is premium dimensional lumber. Hardware is galvanized fasteners and quality door hardware throughout.

What warranty comes with my shed?

Every shed comes with a manufacturer's warranty on materials and workmanship. Specific terms vary by component — call us at (540) 869-4050 for full warranty details on a specific shed.

How long do your sheds last?

Many of our oldest sheds are still in service today, 10+ years after delivery. With basic care (occasional re-staining, keeping the path clear, keeping debris off the roof), our sheds are designed to last decades.

Visiting & Contact

Can I visit your lot in person?

Absolutely — and we recommend it. Our lot at 1518 Fairfax Pike in White Post, VA is open during business hours. Walk through any of our in-stock sheds, ask questions, and see Amish craftsmanship up close. No appointment needed.

What are your hours?

Monday–Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, closed Sunday.
